Buy Now and Save Big on a May Visit to Cedar Point

SANDUSKY, Ohio –- With all the fun at Cedar Point slated to start in less than five weeks, now is the best time to buy and save big on a May visit to the Sandusky, Ohio, amusement park/resort.

Through April 30, a single-day Spring Fever ticket can now be purchased online for only $31.99, a savings of $15.  A Spring Fever ticket can be used any day the park is open in May, including Opening Day, Saturday, May 14 and Memorial Day Weekend, May 28-31, but these tickets must be purchased online in April.  Tickets for juniors, age 3 and older, under 48 inches tall, and Seniors, age 62 and older, are only $21.  Children, age 2 and under, are free.
Cedar Point will be open daily Saturday, May 14 through Labor Day, Sept. 5, plus Friday nights, Saturdays and Sundays, Sept. 9-11 through Oct. 28-30, 2011.

With 75 rides, including 17 roller coasters, Cedar Point has more rides and more roller coasters than any park in the world.

New this summer will be WindSeeker, a 301-foot-tall swing ride that will spin riders nearly 30-stories above the Cedar Point Beach.  Near the front of the park, Pink’s, world-renowned for its gourmet hot dogs, chili dogs, onion rings and fresh toppings, will open its first franchise east of Las Vegas.

Cedar Point also has a huge assortment of family rides such as the 136-foot-tall Giant Wheel Ferris wheel, the Sky Ride cable cars and three antique carrousels.

For young families, Camp Snoopy and Planet Snoopy are two of four special ride areas that offer plenty to do with Mom and Dad.  The park also presents a variety of live shows including Tropical Heat, Island Beat in the Red Garter Saloon on the Frontier Trail and Charlie Brown’s Funtime Frolics in the Camp Snoopy Theatre in Camp Snoopy.

The Spring Fever Ticket is only valid for May visits, but can be used with an upgrade to regular price for a visit to Cedar Point on any other 2011 operating day.

Cedar Fair Partners With Guinness World Records® LIVE! for a Record-Breaking Summer

SANDUSKY, Ohio, April 13, 2011 — For more than two decades, Cedar Fair has been shattering world records for having the tallest, fastest, steepest, most thrilling rides and roller coasters on the planet! This summer, park guests will be able to get in on the record-breaking fun as Cedar Fair Entertainment Company has announced plans to partner with Guinness World Records’ new division, GWR Live!, for a summer-long series of interactive record-breaking-events at the Company’s amusement parks across North America.

Official Guinness World Records® adjudicators will be present at Cedar Point, Knott’s Berry Farm, Kings Island, Canada’s Wonderland, Kings Dominion, Carowinds, Dorney Park, California’s Great America, Worlds of Fun and Valleyfair amusement parks, to officiate a variety of record attempts by both guests and the parks.

New Paint on Millennium Force

After 11 years, Millennium Force is finally being repainted.  It currently looks like the lift and queue line area of track has been painted so far.  Hopefully the whole ride will be sporting a new coat of paint by Opening Day. I would like thank Carsten Anderson of COASTER-net.com who allowed us to use his pictures.

Cedar Point to Host First 5K Challenge

SANDUSKY, Ohio – There will be a lot of people running around Cedar Point on Father’s Day morning, Sunday, June 19 and none of them will be getting in line for a roller coaster!

Cedar Point has announced plans to host the first Cedar Point 5K Challenge, a 5,000-meter race (3.1 miles) that will take runners along the park’s legendary midways and past the largest collection of rides and roller coasters on the planet!  The race will take place on Sunday, June 19 and will start at 7 a.m.  An Awards Ceremony will take place immediately after the race.

The entry fee for the Cedar Point 5K Challenge is $25, which includes parking on race day and a coupon good for $12 off a regular adult admission ticket to Cedar Point on Sunday, June 19.  Each participant will also receive a Tech race T-shirt.  A portion of the race proceeds will be used to support the cross-country teams at Sandusky High School, St. Mary Central Catholic High School and Perkins High School.

“The new Cedar Point 5K Challenge will be a fun way to raise money for local schools,” said John Hildebrandt, general manager of Cedar Point.  “Running through the park in the morning when it is empty of guests is something you don’t get to do very often.  It will be a real treat for the runners.”

Plaques featuring Snoopy will be awarded to the overall male and female finishers. The top three male and female placers in the following age groups: 13 and under; 14 to 19; 20 to 29; 30 to 39; 40 to 49; 50 to 59; and 60 and older; will each receive a commemorative race medal.

Participants must preregister to be a part of this exciting new race.  Entry forms are available by visiting the race’s web site: www.cedarpoint5kchallenge.com, which was developed by the web design class at Perkins High School.  All entries must be submitted by Sunday, June 12.  Preregistration is required.  There will not be any day-of-race registration.

Race packet pickup will take place on Friday, June 17 (from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.) and on Saturday, June 18 (from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) at Cedar Point’s Castaway Bay indoor waterpark resort.

Cedar Point Seeks A Very Important Family

SANDUSKY, Ohio –- The search begins.

Cedar Point’s Opening Day may still be a few weeks away, but the historic amusement park/resort in Sandusky, Ohio, is currently looking for a Very Important Family (V.I.F.) to help it celebrate the opening of the 2011 season on Saturday, May 14.

Now through April 15, Cedar Point’s biggest and most loyal fans can log on to www.facebook.com/cedarpoint to enter the Very Important Family Contest.  Interested guests will have to tell park officials by video why they should be chosen as Cedar Point’s Very Important Family.

The winning family will be invited to help with the ribbon-cutting ceremony that will officially open Cedar Point for the summer on Saturday, May 14.  Also participating in the Opening Day Ceremony will be Dick Kinzel, President and CEO of the Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, Cedar Point’s General Manager John Hildebrandt and everyone’s favorite beagle — Snoopy.

Besides the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the winning family will also receive six complimentary tickets to the park on Opening Day, a commemorative photograph of the ribbon-cutting ceremony, preferred seating on the ride of their choice, a Cedar Point gift bag and a complimentary lunch at a Cedar Point restaurant.

To enter, contestants need to create a video explaining why they should be chosen as Cedar Point’s Very Important Family.  Participants are encouraged to supply a link to their video.  (Videos must be less than 90 seconds in length.)  Official rules and regulations can be found on the V.I.F. Facebook tab.

Deadline for entering the contest is Friday, April 15.
Cedar Point officials will select the top videos and post them on the park’s YouTube page: http://www.youtube.com/user/CedarPointVideos where people will be able to vote for their favorite video.  The winner will be determined by the number of “likes” it receives on YouTube and a panel of Cedar Point judges.

Voting will take place from Thursday, April 28 through Sunday, May 1.  The winner will be announced on Monday, May 2.

Cedar Point will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, May 14 and will be open daily through Labor Day, Sept. 5, plus Friday nights, Saturdays and Sundays, Sept. 9-11 through Oct. 28-30, 2011.
